Panoply of Posies - A Quaker motif sampler with a history

Panoply of Posies    size 250 x 250  - A garden delights in Quaker style motifs with a history, this design has been inspired by collections of antique geometric motifs gathered a century ago from needlework found in rural cottage households in Switzerland. 

These beautiful floral figures are reminiscent of wild flowers, ferns, herbs and grasses that blanket the meadows and hills of the rural landscape.  Model is stitched on Zweigart's light khaki davosa.  Suggested are Crescent Colors hand-dyed silks:  Baguette, Harvest and Mer Blue.

Panoply of Posies progress 1-24-10

Progress!   I've finally  reached halfway point on Panoply of Posies.  Between stitching, designing and charting, I think my eyes are glazing over.  I wish there were more hours in the day!


As I stitch, I think about how these various motifs would work for a scissors fob, a humbug, even a little needle roll or trinket purse.  I will have to put my designing "thinking cap" on and come up with more ideas.

Panoply of Posies progress 1-7-10

Here we are, already a week into the new year.  I've made pretty good progress on Panoply of Posies, considering I am dividing my time between charting Creation and painting my sewing room.  I am pleased with the colors from Vikki Clayton's Hand-Dyed Fibers http://www.hand-dyedfibers.com/ where you can find my Panoply of Posies.

GREAT NEWS!

Here, I am halfway across the bottom and will start to work on the triangle in the lower right corner today.  The large rusty thistle head is centered in the pattern.  Once I finish the lower half, I will flip my stretcher frame and work from the middle to the top, upside down.
