Panoply of Peacocks WIP

Just a wee beginning of Panoply of Peacocks. I thought I would stitch both in  Crescent Colours silk and cotton - one for me and one for my daughter.  The colors are a little different between the two sets of flosses, naturally so that will be an interesting comparison.  I'm anxious to see the Dinky Dyes silks as well and find a set of colors that give that same peacock look.

I had a certain idea for the colors until I researched what peacocks actually look like up close!  There is a lot of green!  I cut back on the green since the teals are one of my favorite colors...

I am stitching this on 27 count white Linda, pending some pearl grey lugana for the other one.  This design can be stitched over 1 or 2 as desired.  The chart tells you how to accomplish that.  Since my walls are getting VERY full, I am more prone to smaller pieces now, unless as my husband suggested, I start decorating the ceiling!

Three Designs Pending Release!

PENDING RELEASE **A TRIO of Beauties

Wintery Moon in the Round; 156x156 - is a spin-off of the third design in the upcoming Tempting Tangles “WaterMeadows Castle” series.  Charted in DMC floss, it is easy to translate to your favorite specialty floss. This design does have some half, quarter and petite stitches with instruction.  Stitch on white or pale gray, any pastel linen or even weave.

This round version of Wintery Moon is a cameo of the original, larger, more detailed Wintery Moon, which will be available to shops as part of the upcoming Watermeadows Season Series, for later in 2011/2012.

Panoply of Peacocks - 257x353 - With it’s dozens upon dozens of antique-style peacocks, twirling together in a kaleidoscope of peacock hued & patterned motifs reminiscent of more serious Quaker medallions, this design is the very definition of the word “panoply”.

Calculated to fit nicely on a fat quarter of 32 or 36 count linen if stitched over 2 threads, it can be just as beautiful stitched over 1 on an even weave of 26 count, resulting in a finished work of 10 x 13 ¾”. Stitched over 1 on 28 count, you will have a dainty piece 9 1/4 x 12 3/4.  Suggested flosses are Crescent Colours silk or cotton floss. The design is currently being stitched in the elegant, variegated belle soie, for a stunning finish to this luscious design.  Pictures will be posted as soon as that work is complete.  Nothing looks quite the same as hand-dyed silk, so do treat yourself on this design. The result will be worth your efforts.

Liberty For All - 193x233 - Just in time for Fourth of July stitching.  Flavors of Americana and Patriotism couldn't be more vibrant in this rich red and blue band sampler. Included are sections of Assisi work to show off the delicate fruited and flowering vines. Complete with tiny, cracked Liberty Bill.  Full and half stitch, back stitch, and Assisi bands with Algerian Eyelet border.

Suggested fabric:  Wichelt linen natural light brown 32 ct over 2 threads.  Finished size if stitched over 2 threads of fabric fits on a fat quarter at 12-1/8 x 14-5/8h inches.   Note: The letter “O” is missing from the alphabet, just to keep you on your toes!

Peek-A-Boo!!! - -Hallowe'en design recalls sweet childhood fantasies

Peek-A-Boo!!!   The heart-thudding mystery of who might be hidden inside all those ghostly costumes, the breathless excitement on that very first Hallowe'en night - who can forget that experience?

In my new design "Peek-A-Boo", a magical "Boo" rises in smoky vapors from the glowing innards of a cheery Jack-o-Lantern, as two youngsters peer inside, awed by whatever surprise might be there.

From the star studded Little Dipper and smiling quarter moon, to the twining bottom border of capricious pumpkins, this happy little design will lead you on an adventure down memory lane.   Complete with a whimsical bat and creepy spider webs, this design is mostly full stitches, with quarter and petite stitches lending detail to face, hands, legs.  Straight stitch & back stitched  stars, spider webs, magic fairy wand and other details create a true piece of memorabilia.

Stitch on 32-36 count black linen, over two threads - Stitch Size 220x222

Panoply of Posies - A Quaker motif sampler with a history

These beautiful floral figures are reminiscent of wild flowers, ferns, herbs and grasses that blanket the meadows and hills of the rural landscape.  Model is stitched on Zweigart's light khaki davosa.  Suggested are Crescent Colors hand-dyed silks:  Baguette, Harvest and Mer Blue.

Panoply of Posies will soon be available in your local LNS through Hoffman Distributing.
