Liberty For All - WIP complete!

Stitching is completed!
Liberty For All - 193x233 - This antique reproduction-style sampler has been sent to your LNS, just in time for Fourth of July stitching!

Flavors of Americana and Patriotism couldn't be more vibrant in this rich red and blue band sampler. Included are sections of Assisi work to show off the delicate fruited and flowering vines. Complete with tiny, cracked Liberty Bill.  Full and half stitch, back stitch, and Assisi bands with Algerian Eyelet border.

Model was stitched on Wichelt's natural light brown linen, 32 ct over 2 threads using Hand-Dyed Fibers silks Quince 1413 and Maggie's Tears 2349.  The finished size if stitched over 2 threads of fabric fits on a fat quarter at 12-1/8 x 14-5/8h inches.

FIRST LIGHT - Pending Release 3-25-11

First Light -
size 109x109 was designed as a  companion piece to our much larger  “Creation”. The model is worked with 1  strand of floss over 1 thread of 28 count light khaki Jobelan.

Stitch types are full, half, Algerian Eye, a single Border Flower, and fan stitches which are created with simple straight lines.  It is charted in DMC for easy translation into the floss of your choice.

First Light is ideal for cross stitch or needlepoint and over 1 thread of fabric, it becomes a true miniature - ornament size.   The design has instructions for stitching over 2, which allows more detail to be worked into the lettering.  If you are working this over 1 thread of fabric, ignore the fractional stitches – they are not needed and the alphabet will be just as lovely. A full alphabet is included for personalizing your work.  First Light would be a meaningful Easter gift, with very special symbolism.  This design in PDF is available for immediate download  Etsy.com-TemptingTangles

Across the Miles- Pending Release

 ** PENDING RELEASE **
I've finished a new design called Across the Miles for 2011.  Across the Miles has been delivered to Hoffmandis, and is now available in shops.

This design is 111 x 112, and is a fairly easy stitch with blackwork done in brick reds, coffee brown and olive greens to give a lot of detail and complexity with relatively little work for the stitcher.  There are also half and quarter stitches and a row of Algerian eyelets - the little flowers.

Across the Miles makes a pretty gift, and an unforgettable one to be sure.

The Only Gift

The Only Gift

American philosopher, poet and essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) offered this thoughtful statement in his Essay, “Gifts”.  This seemingly simple statement is in fact, a statement of great insight and depth of meaning.  A gift of oneself is the most beautiful and precious of all offerings.

Panoply of Posies - A Quaker motif sampler with a history

Panoply of Posies    size 250 x 250  - A garden delights in Quaker style motifs with a history, this design has been inspired by collections of antique geometric motifs gathered a century ago from needlework found in rural cottage households in Switzerland.

These beautiful floral figures are reminiscent of wild flowers, ferns, herbs and grasses that blanket the meadows and hills of the rural landscape.  Model is stitched on Zweigart's light khaki davosa.  Suggested are Crescent Colors hand-dyed silks:  Baguette, Harvest and Mer Blue.

Panoply of Posies will soon be available in your local LNS through Hoffman Distributing.

The Creation Sampler-

Creation size 286 x 240
This amazing piece was stitched on 26 count raw linen by the designer and then almost a year later, painstakingly charted from the finished work.  Creation stirs both imagination and emotions with its swirling palette of storm cloud and sunrise colors.
This inspiring work evokes the wondrous drama of the words in Genesis, stitch painting the introduction to the  Biblical story of Creation
There are several specialty stitches in this piece with excellent illustrations and instructions to aid the stitcher in recreating them.  Charted in DMC.

Panoply of Posies progress

I'm making pretty good progress in stitching my model for Panoply of Posies.  Here it is as of last night.  I managed to stitch the blue motif done during the Dr Who episode - and that is really saying something as it was hard to take my eyes off the TV!
